Hello,
I wish to ask for tips on how to improve sight reading, especially for violin. I am currently somewhere between Grade 5-8 violin and am having some problems with sight reading and especially when third position comes into play.
Are there any music players or violinists here that could give some suggestions?
Thank you and have a nice day

Hi,
Maybe you wanna share more specifically what problems you have? At your level I assume it would have to do with Rhythm (triplets, odd-meter) or non-diatonic runs + intonation - but I could be wrong.
Do share more and maybe we can talk about it.
Quite surprised to see a music related question at an Astro Forum .. but well .. it's the coffee corner .. so anything goes I guess.. =)

Hi practising with a metronome will definitely improve your rhythm by leaps and bounds.
I don't play violin but upright bass .. when I was just starting i used to practise 7-8 hours a day .. not so much now .. so yeah, you gotta practise until you don't have to see where your fingers go and get the intonation spot on .. I'm afraid there's no short cut .. =)
However, transcribing really do a great deal for your ears .. try that .. you'll be more sensitive to your intonation and rhythms .. =)
