Surveyor Tripod...where to buy?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Homely Hardware Supermart in Ubi, they only have aluminum tripods, the heavy duty one costs about $170. Check with Matthew for the wooden surveyor tripod.

Ok thanks. Wonder if it can take a scope that weighs around 11kg

Arief, do you have the address for this place? I check yellowpages.com.sg but they do not have this name in their records.

You can give Sokkia wooden tripods a try if weight is not an issue, they have office in SG. Google for looks and Yellowpages for address.

Loading wise, I believe it takes an excess 100kg to break well-anchored wooden surveyors tripods. I couldn’t with 60kg. It does exhibit good damping properties but are much heavier than Al-counterparts.

Have fun

Matthew

Just got a price quote for Sokkia PFW1 hardwood tripod (the one Matthew is using), it's S$320+GST. Slightly cheaper than Oberwerk's Hardwood tripod (http://www.bigbinoculars.com/obwtri.htm) which is US$150+Shipping from US+GST. Any other alternatives?
