Hey all..
Recently i discovered a very bright glow .. seems to be shimmering .. red and yellow bright lights.. it never moved and it has been easily observed through the naked eye.. my friend thought it was either a satelite or a planet.. i saw this in the east area.. Tampines..
Can anyone tell me what this is ???
Hmm.. My friend thought it was a planet .. was it ????

Hi
Would help if you indicated the time you saw it but from your description, it is likely Mars...its bright, reddish and high up early in the night presently. There you go...your first planet! Don't forget to look for Venus early in the evening due West too...
cheers

Hi,
Anyway, I think it may be an aircraft... Changi Airport is just at the east side of Tampines and depend on which direction the aircraft was flying, you may saw strangely behave (hovering or moving extremely slow) lights in the east direction. For example, I frequently saw a bright star like object hovering or moving extremely slow for more than a few minutes in North East sky near the horizon. Initially, I thought what was that "thing"?? But after observed it for sometime, I realised that I was actually looking at an aircraft very far away flying towards my direction... only realised it after I saw the blinking red lights appeared as the aircraft changed direction  . The bright "star" light was actually the aircraft "head light". It appeared hovering in the sky because it was flying towards my direction and because it was in the night, the head light of the aircraft was very obvious and bright.
So next time if you observe strange lights in the sky, observe it for a while... it may be an aircarft, bats or even birds... =P =P
Have a nice day.
Which direction did you saw it and how high from the horizon?? Never move?? Still at the same spot after a few hours??Recently i discovered a very bright glow .. seems to be shimmering .. red and yellow bright lights.. it nv moves and it has been easily observed through the naked eye.. my fren tot it was either a satelite or a planet.. i saw this in the east area.. Hi,
Need more information.
Have a nice day.
Depend on where you are in Tampines, bedok reservoir can be at south, south-west or west of Tampines. What time did you see it and around how high is it... 70 degree above horizon?? Anyway, did you see it only on that night only or you can see it every night at the same position??hmm.. the direction ..i'm not very clear .. but its near bedok reservoir ..
Need more information.
Have a nice day.

Hi!
Do you have a planetarium software? It makes clarification of objects much easier. This is a nice freeware.
