Vintage Telescopes

Post by AGMI »

Anyone here used those 50s - 90s telescopes or look through them before? eg. those tascos or bushnells, unitrons or even the brashears or alvan clark? i got a relatively cheap deal for a towa/tasco/meade 80mm f/15.

well they are all vintage right? :D

anyway the alvan clark as i know is VERY good [optics were at 1/11 wave] and quite rare and also VERY EXPEN$IVE. what i really wanted to know was the quality of those questar-era japanese imported telescope like tasco. quality were above average [quite typical for japanese stuff] and some of them are worth next to nothing now, at least except the unitrons. ive seen really long f/l telescopes like the 60mm f20 [yes, f20] refractor but im interested in the towa 80mm f/15 refrator. hefty yes but optically quite excellent. any comment?
