CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Saturn on 09Dec2005

Post by universe24 »

Hi all,

Another Saturn observation session is on the way. I still remember the first time I saw it after it passed the Sun and came out again from the east is before the Mars opposition.
I love the orientation of it's ring now. Very nice view.
Attached is the image I taken on 09Dec2005.

Hello William Chin,

Very nice image of Saturn. Noticed that you'd taken it using your newly modified webcam. Are you please with the result so far? Does it able to record finer detail on planets compared to the colour version?
I heard from you recently that the camera is now more sensitive. Do you think it can be used for deepsky without any tampering with the electronics?

Thanks.

Regards,
CK

Hi CK,

Actually I still not satisfy with this. I have tried on Mars and the results not as my expected...maybe Mars now is small and hard to show more detail. Anyway, this is the best Saturn image I can get so far as I can magnify it larger to do imaging.
I can say it show more detail on Saturn images I got. Generally I cannot say it can record finer detail on Planets...still need time and good weather to compare.
I think without tampering with electronics, the camera cannot use for deepsky purpose.
