Hello, just took a look at the celstron skymaster today at the astro pl in science centre.
i'm thinking of getting a binocular for astronomical observation and currently have shortlisted the
celestron skymaster 15 X 70. the price quoted was rather steep at SGD$495. Howver, a search online revealed that this bino only cost USD$64.00 (ard $108sgd) at amazon.com
can anyone explain the great discrepancy in this priciing.
how about the quality of the bioculars. it looks pretty much the same as the bushnell types.
hope to get input regarding:
1. pricing
2. comments from owners of this set
3. warranty only for 1 year? however, i have seen lifetime warranty at celestron website
4. the current market price for this set (celectron slymaster 15 x 70)
5. any further inputs from anyone
a very merry christmas and hear from you all soon. thank you.
Celestron Skymaster 15 X 70. Need help for other's input: )

Hi,
My comments:
1) Most singastro guys do not buy from astro sci because of the prices. Although the price of scopes there have come down recently, they are still higher than when purchased online. However, they are the distributors in Singapore and honour the warranty. Having said that, they have to pay the overheads for having a storefront, hence the high prices.
2) I own the Barska 15X70mm and I think it is good value for the $ paid.
3) Being mechanical, I do not expect it to break down if it survives the first year.
4) Do a check on the net for this.

thanks for the input guys. really apprecaite. anothe of my question. the skymaster series looked and felt exactly like those manufacturered in china. i do observe collimation and chromatic aberration even when viewing in the day time. is there any other brands you all can reccommned? no fujinon because the price is a killer even when i aspired to have a pair.
