Nightmare light pollution source

Post by starfinder »

I looked out of my window tonight at 11.30pm and saw the worst ever light pollution source I've seen.

Take a look at this photo. It appears to come from somewhere around Clarke Quay, near Hill Street.

These are a few sets of extremely bright search-lights pointed up into the sky, spanning about 30 degrees wide and high.

I think this is a nightmare!! Or should I say, a light-mare.

I hope it is for this holiday period only. I think we may want to ask the Int'l Dark Sky Association to set up a branch here...

Even Batman had only one beam.

Hi,
Remind me of the light pollution source in Tampines, but on a smaller scale.
Even Batman had only one beam.
Anyway, the problems with batman is that where ever he go, the cloud follow... or how we can see the bat logo cast by his light?? Also, the batman yellow light is so powerful that the bat logo can be cast so clearly... no LPR filter can filter that... hee hee hee =P =P =P

Have a nice day.

Hi Gavin, Singapore is generally "too bright". I was on a Bintang kelong earlier this month and the surrounding area in Bintang was nice and dark except for S'pore. Singapore can be clearly identified as a lighted haze on the horizon.

Haha yeah, quite true. The light pollution in the CBD area rivals Times Square in New york to some extent, saw it when I was there the previous week. Only Mars and Venus could be seen from Times Square.
