Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
Anyone uses or used the Celestron UHC? How is it compared to Lumicon and Orion counterpart? Will appreciate your input ... .trying to decide on what to buy .
Anyway, if I bought a UHC, do I still need a Minus-Violet filter? I think it should effectively minus off most of the Violet, am I right?

I had the Celestron LPR/UHC Filter. IMHO, this is a Broadband filter, not a Narrowband Filter which normally associate with UHC filter. So, it do not have the type of Narrowband bandwidth that Lumicon UHC or Orion UltraBlock filter have.

IMHO, you don't even need a Minus-Violet filter for deep sky objects... the false colour won't be seen unless you point to those few bright stars.
Have a nice day.

Which one is the one you are having? The LPR or the UHC/LPR?
My one indicate as UHC/LPR. Anyway, I think they only have one which called UHC/LPR.
By the way, UHC mean Ultra High Contrast... it doesn't mean Narrowband. Also, LPR mean Light Pollution Reduction and it doesn't mean Broadband too... So best is to look at their spectral respond characteristics graph or at least look for the specific words... "Narrowband" or "Broadband" in their description.

The Spectral Respond Charactersitics graph seems awfully similar to Ultrablock and Astronomik Professional UHC filter peaking at Hydrogen Alpha and Beta and cutting off the rest of the lights. Thus I am wondering what's the difference.
In your opinion, would it be better to get a LPR like Celestron or a UHC like Orion/Lumicon/Astronomik? been trying to figure it out. I had ruled out the old Celestron LPR totally, since the review by quite a few website (users of it) was that it is very much usless on city lighting. Never heard of any reviews of the new Celestron UHC/LPR though.
I suggest you get an Orion Ultrablock - its on sale now, I ordered 2" one from OPT for US$96 including shipping ($80 for the filter) use paypal as well...go for Astronomik/Lumicon if you have extra $$ and want scratch resistant ones. Can also consider DGM optics NPB, it was on sale but now back to original price of US$150+shipping..highly rated as well.
