Mersing Expedition (March 3rd-5th) Reg Dateline THIS MONDAY

Hi SINGASTRO peeps,

Here are the details:

Observing location: Mersing, Peninsula Malaysia
Dates: March 3rd to 5th 2006 (friday to sunday)
Expedition Departure: March 3rd 10:30AM (location confirm later)
Arrival back to Singapore: March 5th evening (estimation)
Major Requirements: unexpired passport, retinas, groundsheets, toiletries, adequate change of clothings, repellant, optical equipment, star charts, pen, some malaysian ringgit (recommended RM50 or more to buy snacks at Mersing town for expedition, etc).
Expedition Cost per person: SGD$130 (SINGASTRO members)
Accomodation: Putting up at nearby non-airconditioned chalet about 1-2km from observing site.

Details needed from participants:
1) Full name
2) Emergency contact number
3) NRIC
4) Optical equipment specifications for customs declaration
5) Expedition cost payment

Important: Interested participants MUST respond soonest, LATEST BY this Monday (13th Feb)

By the way, is it possible to have a location map? In case I can find a friend who'll be willing to drive me up, to and fro on a later day...? Is it possible?

from the current people who are going for the trip you may get to look through 8-inch newtonians, 4-inch binoculars, 3-inch refractors, 8-inch SCTs, etc...

hi klutz,
yes you may join us later in the day if you can get someone to ferry you up. personally, i do not have a detailed map of the region but i think some of the others members here might have. anyone?
