The Astronomy Societies from Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore are proud to present the AstroChallenge 2006. This is an annual event directed at promoting astronomy among students and fostering ties among the various Astronomy Societies in Singapore.

As stated in our previous invitation, AstroChallenge 2006 will be held on the 20th and 21st of June this year. There will be many challenging questions in the individual and data analysis rounds which together with the project round and observation round, aim to create a holistic astronomy competition. In addition, new activities such as the ‘Help Me!’ round and buzzer rounds at the finals hope to bring more fun and enjoyment to the whole event.

All interested schools are to fill in application form(s) found in Appendix II and return to us by 28th April 2006. You can post it or email it to the addresses found on the registration form.

Kindly consider this invitation as it is an opportunity for the students to gain exposure and foster inter-school ties. For your reference, we have enclosed more details regarding this event in Appendix I attached at the back of this invitation letter.

Enquiries can be made to astrochallenge@gmail.com

Hey, I'm Jiawei from VJC astronomy club here. Just wondering if you have sent it to my school. We were kind of confused by the first letter we received. Do I acknowledge it by sending it back to you?

hi jiawei, 2nd letter contains application form, so you will have to send it back after filling it up. first letter is just like a note to tell you all that there will be astro challenge.

i mean, ntu astro's c8 is dead, remus helped us check on tuesday night and officially pronounced dead. Thanks Remus!
we lost its counter weight during bintan trip last year
before that, the wooden mount got cracked
and finally, c8 itself's secondary mirror got lose from corrector plate.
thinking of taking it apart to sell the mirror and stuffs, lol
right now, we only got a antique 1/2 dead c6 and ntu astro is probably the poorest astro club in singapore. T_T

I went with NTU astro on 2 msia trips before and I must say that the way they handled the scopes is just too rough. The newtonian C6 I can bet is way way off collimation and it was just bashed around when transported. It is not surprising that the C8 is gone too. Perhaps you guys should appoint someone to take good care of the scopes and ask people who are 'gentle' during trips to carry them and not other people who do not understand scopes or know the significance of rough handling when it comes to optical alignment.

oh man... wouldnt you all leave her resting in peace or an elaborate funeral if possible for her service? Still want to sell off her organs??? You unfeeling creatures..

Just kidding!! :D

Anyway, Yang Beng, Im sure you are exaggerating right? I think those appointed should have experiences on handling scope. Maybe, just not conscious enough during handling..

ok, back to the topic...
