1499 Leonids dust trail Nov 14 '03 - yk's result

Post by ykchia »

Hi folks:

Here is the link to the 1499 dust Leonids attempts. Not many bright Leonids were seen in the early hours of Nov 14. Due to work committment I stopped my visual around 3:am.

Two watec-902H were used. One with me in the open field and the other doing a 3 hours automated recording from home.

Weekend locked myself at home, ran the both tapes through the software to autodetect and aslo viewed x1 tape on a monitor.

http://www.ykchia.com/leonids03.htm The big one captured was not Leonids but a sporadic. The other leonids captured were rather faint.

Will do this again on Thursday early AM. A recent revision on prediction indicate a peak with ZHR ~ 70, ( not much moo n problem) before 2am..

Lets pray for good weather...

Dear yK,

Just seen your images: thanks ever so much for sharing them. I have to take my hat off to you for achieving some real scientific results from Singapore. You dedication amazes me, not only for taking the images, but also for reviewing all the tapes! Well done.

All the best,
Jeremy
