Hi guys...
Ok..someone is gonna get lucky. One of my non-astro friend has decided to sell his Orion 80mm ED. He bought new from Orion for the current price of USD$499. After being checked and tested by me (and it is one of those that Orion got it right straight out from the box) I believe he didn't use the scope more than 3 times. Be bought it for bird-watching, but he didn't have the time. So the scope is in like new condition.
But best of all, the scope comes with all this
1) Tube rings. He didn't want the Orion tube rings, so I got him something really nice....rings from Ken's rings. (USD$49 value)
2) Orion hardcase for the scope. This is a beautiful case (USD$90 value and Astrobargains in selling one for SGD$269!!)
3) 1.25" tube extender (for binoviewing purposes) (USD$16 value)
4) A kendrick dew strap for the scope. Just plug this in into any 12V battery and you will have a dew free night. No need to go build your own resistor or whatever (USD$49 value)
5) A 9x50 finder bracket (but no finder). The scope doesn't comes with any finder bracket so with this bracket, you can put your own finder.
This whole package values at around USD$700 or around SGD$1130. He paid shipping and taxes at around SGD$200. So he paid about SGD$1330 for this package (actually more than this because the conversion rate back them was at 1.68)
Now this is the beautiful part. I told him to sell this at $950. And if anyone really interested, I will even throw in 3 Meade 4000 plossl in, a 26mm, 15mm, and a 9.7mm, courtesy from me. You have a nice starting package at SGD950. Check back the previous ads in Singastro...many were selling this APO at around 900 just the scope and the tube rings. Now with 950, you have nicer tube rings, a hard case that fit the scope like a glove, extender tube, dew strap if you need it, finder bracket and 3 Meade 4000 plossl eyepieces.
How does that sound?

My goodness..the usual great deals from vincent....how come you still not selling an N8iSE??? I hope to buy it at the prices you are selling.
The ED80 is truly a good scope. You can ask Tan Guan. He's using it for all those good images he has been displaying here. And since it passed through Vincent, I know it would have been collimated since vincent leaves no scope uncollimated! anyhow, the only reason why I sold it off was due to its size. 600mm FL means its too long to fit most camcorder bags. otherwise a decent APO performer...

Thanks Rich.....
BTW, I receive a few PM asking me about the case. Yes, this is the case that was built for the scope, not any other hard cases. I show the picture here:

see the 3 little holes there? Just nice to fit in my 3 Meade Plossl...
What I like about this case is that you can leave your diagonal on the scope...need not remove them like other cases.

I have received the scope and here are some pictures on it. Whole package for just SGD$950. To know how much value you are getting, go back to my first post. The optional finder bracket is not shown but included.

- Very nice Ken rings. I like these over the standard Orion rings. These are more solid and its hinges are not "loose"

Yes...this is really a very good deal by local standards.
The OTA alone is around $850 (current price) already.
Vince : How big is the dew heater? If it can take 8" diameter, I'm interested to discuss a deal!
