Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Web Cam Modification

Post by boothee »

Dear Friends,

Is there any web cam modification service for Long Exposure in Singapore ?

Where can I find it and how much it would cost roughly.

Thanks,

;O)

Boothee:

What kind of webcams are you going to modify? If you don't want to mess with modification, LPI is a good alternative. :)

Hi, I'm just wondering, which is "better"? LP1 or Toucam for Planets? Is it possible to take DSOs with those?

planetary/moon image is easy with toucam but cant do much with DSO without long exposure mod.

Must know Steve Chambers if you are talking about webcam mod. Search online and you will find bunch of people mod their webcam base on this guy. See the mod step by step here:
http://www.pmdo.com/about.htm

I have question about webcam mod too, which is better:?
1) Wire connection to PC and use PC to control the exposure (another comm port??)

2) Mod the webcam so that you use IR LED or remote control to manual control the exposure (less wire)

3) do a micro-controller project to key-in the exposure time on the camera itself.

4) save the original toucam for planetary and buy other CCD for DSO?

Hi boothe, have you heard about the Celestron NexImage? It will not require you to modify it.

I haven tried it, will try when I get it next month. I think it may not suitable for DSO. Not too sure yet.
Is DSO (Deep Sky Observation)?
