Singastro Lelong - The aftermath

Post by Airconvent »

Well....certainly another successful gathering , thanks to Chee Chien's organisation as well as all the sponsors who donated cakes, puffs, drinks (even though there were no cups!).
Starmatrix, Physical Space and Astrobargain were there in full force and the sale items from members made it all the more interesting.

Then there is Remus' walk down memory lane with a nostalgic presentation of Singastro through the years...we got to see the MIA people like samuel ng, wira, etc. and of course, out beloved marina south obs site which is no more...

Quite alot of members also could not make it notably our very hardworking mod, Mr Weixing who had a last minute engagement to attend to...but don't worry, Remus made sure everyone remembered by showing a photo of him by standing next to his scope and for added effect, a cutting from Berita Harian as well! afterall, he is our "celebrity" mod.. 8-)

Some items changed hands and there was a very good Kenko achromat selling at only $600 from Starmatrix...Another good deal would have been the porta mount at a closing time price of $450....I was very very very very tempted but I controlled myself successfully!  I was there to sell my WO SD66 instead but so far all it accumulated were lots of finger prints...heh heh..will try again later.

A special guest all the way from Thailand also popped by to give a talk on the astronomy scene in Thailand. DIY'sers like Matthew lost no time in exchanging tips with Anat, Master DIY'er who is actually very helpful and friendly in person. Best wishes to his stay in Singapore!

Mooey also made a re-appearance, albeit minus his hair..heh heh...took me 30 sec to recognise him...and we are also priveleged by Kay Heem's presence, as he seldom is able to attend such events.

who was there?
of course, the usual gang, arief, rlow, wucheeyiun, vince snr, mike matthews, remus, gavin, kochu, elton, faisal, woei jiin, hannah, zong, ian, joo beng and family, kochu, wee kiong, hannah, zong, andrew soh, junwei (injured!), matthew, colin (oxygn), weixiong, yvonne and countless others I have missed (around 30 people present, I think) nad last but not least, Chee Chien himself (minus his 12" portaball! )

The photos are not ready yet, but those how have them , do upload them here....cheers!

Once again, a BIG thank you to Chee Chien, the sponsors for the food/drinks, our overseas members and all participants who made the event a success...THANK YOU!!!
