Post by nF »

There will be an observing session going on now at Dempsey Road as the sky is clear. All members on the CSN list have been informed by SMS. Message posted here on behalf of Chee Chien.

Thanks Yong Quan for posting the announcement here. Roger, Richard and I had wanted to join SP Astro at East Coast, but a traffic jam over there diverted us to Dempsey instead. Didn't have my pocket PC with me, so only about half of those on the CSN list whose numbers were on my hp were informed (though I think most Starhub subscribers didn't receive the SMS :P )

Skies at Dempsey were good, except for passing clouds which came and go though the sky was completely clear and quite dark at one point.
The skies were stable and we were able to enjoy excellent views of the Orion Nebula which spilled over even the low power eyepieces. Saturn was stunning too, with the stable skies affording stunning views of multiple divisions in the ring system. Jupiter was rising in the eastern skies and we had fabulous views of the great red spot as it spun into view. Really a great nite to start of the first day and first CSN activation of the year!! 8)

See picture of David, Richard and Euwen having a chat while waiting out the clouds.

Hi,
I would like to join you guys(Richard call me), but it is just too late and I don't drive... :(

Anyway, I initially plan to have an observation session, but Tampines skies was cloudy... so my observation session become a house cleaning session. Hope the first new year night will be clear.

By the way, I will be starting my own Messier project - want to see how many Messier object can be seen using my 5" MCT under Singapore skies. :D

Happy New Year to ALL!!!!!
