My first post here. And the best part is that even before I've posted my first note, I've already met quite a few brothers from singastro
I am a total newbie to astronomy. My main interests are travel and landscape photography. Its just by chance that I got introduced to this field. I started photographing the moon using my Canon 30D, so that I can play around with positioning the moon in my landscape shots (in the olden days, people used to call it "Double Exposure"). In the current scenario, its called "Layering with Photoshop"
Anyways, I realized that even with my 400mm lens, I wasnt able to get any decent photos of the moon. Well, I could if I cropped it nice n close, but that didn't appeal to me. However, I was able to see the craters and the shadows - just like what the tutorial on lunar photography said. I guess that was the beginning of this addiction.
One thing led to another and I bumped into Weixing, who kindly invited me to one of his observation sessions in Tampines. And ever since I saw the Saturn with its rings, I guess I can consider myself sucked into this black hole
For the past few weeks, I've been reading and reading tonnes of information on how to choose a telescope. The problem with the internet is that there is too much information - much more than what we can absorb.
Anyways, I've been dreaming of "Refractors", "Reflectors", "Maks" and God knows what else....
So much terminology, so much jargon - its a bit too tough. Hope is not lost. I shall survive and one day soon I will have my own telescope and see Saturn with my own eyes using my own telescope
