CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
Here is a recently assembled (but incomplete!) mosaic of the moon with frames taken from last year (October 2006) through a VC200L with the Nikon D70 DSLR with eyepiece projection. The image has been drastically scaled down from the original (about 16000 pixels in length) to allow for ease of download.
Cannot remember the exact location, but most probably it should be taken from the balcony. The image frames have been grayscaled as well, to lower the overall file size further.
Note that the missing frames cannot be found and sadly, has to be left as it is.
the capturing was done with the DSLR connected to the scope via the Borg SD-1 projection system. 'Manual' eye-balling was done for focusing through the DSLR LCD screen. For each sub-frame, it was taken twice and the better of the two per sub-frame was chosen to piece together the various parts.
and yes, it was really hard work, and needed a computer with lots of memory, that's why it was put on hold till now, processed with a new machine.
