I remember there was a 16" truss dob built by a couple of guys from Singastro. The last I heard was of some mechanical issues. Anyone knows where the scope is now?
Also, what happened to the idea of sharing the 15" CZ mirror to build the dob?
Any updates on these 2 big scopes?

The 16" scope is still-born as it turned out too big and unwieldy. It was a shared project between Chuang Yee (out of the hobby), Wira (dormant) and myself. The scope is with Wira now. Don't mind loaning it to someone for a rebuild

BTW the primary is a 16.1" mirror we waited months for from Discovery Telescopes. As airconvent would say, the .1" is to give us boasting rights on having a scope larger than the Science Centre's 16-incher haha

nope. I call him periodically to get him back to the Alpha Quadrant (where Earth is!) and he tells me in the brief moments when he is free, he does some maintenance on the parts to keep them well oiled for when he "returns to earth"....heh hehVinSnr wrote:does it mean Wira is willing to sell his 10" LX200?acc wrote:The 16" scope is still-born as it turned out too big and unwieldy.
