Reflector, Refractor or Cassegrain?

hi, can i have your guys opinion..what type of telescope do YOU think is better: a reflector, a refractor or a Cassegrain :?: :?: :?:

Hi Welcome,

This is possibly the astronomer's most discussed and most argued question.

Factors like, budget, contrast, planetary, deep sky objects, for photography, portability and depth of interest, all come in to determine what is the best scope for you.

Perhaps you can tell us more about you in relation to the factors I mentioned.

i was just wondering what people though about the 3 scopes.i have the Apex 90mm Min-EQ Mak-Cass.and i like it. its a pretty good scope.

I guess my answer is ALL 3 could be better because each has its strengths depending if you want portability, ease of use or good contrast.

I have a Apex Mak 90 as well and its sharp and very portable.

I also have refractors, newtonians, and a cassegrain, with varying purposes of photography and visual observing.

The correct answer would be all 3. That's why you need examples of all 3 types in various apertures...

They all have their pluses and minuses so what is a good type of telescope for 1 person and purpose may not be the best choice for another (assuming that person can only have 1).
