Post by michael »

thank you.

It's possible... as long as star trail cause by field rotation don't appear in the single frame.

Have a nice day.

Hi,

In my experience imaging with a LX200GPS 12" at f/10 with ST8 from Singapore:

- In alt-az: 30 seconds images work OK. Rotate the bunch and stack them with software such as CCDSoft.

- In alt-az + Meade field derotator: up to 1 minute per image. No more due to average tracking of the LX200.

- In alt-az + field derotator + SBIG AO-7: I have done 10 minutes per image.

This set up looks like this:

Exemple of 6 images, 10 minutes each, stacked:

Note also that for imaging planets, alt-az platform works very well.

Cheers
