question about binoviewers
question about binoviewers
just wondering, are the stellarvues BV3 binoviewers any good? Has anyone here tried them out before? Is focusing difficult with a binoviewer? thanks for the help!!
The BV3 looks a lot like the Burgess BV24 (both are black), but the specs for the clear aperture is closer to the older BV125 (22mm)
They reperesent good value for money.
Binoviewers work great, except that collimation must be dead-on for high power planetary viewing. I do not know if collimation can be done by the end-user (probably not).
All binoviewers require extra in-focus to compensate for the extra light path. This is usually not an issue wtih SCTs and special refractors with adaptable tubes. Reflectors generally need a barlow or other optical corrector.
Binoviewers are fun, but you will require a pair of eyepieces instead of 1, and that can drive up the cost.
