Alright, this is for sharing of your observation experience. Or, if you are arranging gatherings, star-gazing expeditions or just want some company to go observing together, you can shout it out here.
Hi all
I may be organising a star-gazing trip to Bintan from 15-17 Feb. Will be staying at the Mayang Sari Resort and expected cost of lodging and transport is about S$200. Sky there is dark and I think the milky way should be easily visible on a clear nite. During the day, u can sun-tan on a long clean stretch of beach with clear water 8) Group size will be kept small. Those interested pls PM me ur hp number and let me know of the equip (if any) that u are bringing.

actually, its more like a field in a farm area by the sea. very remote and only some villagers nearby. This observation site is about 30-45min drive from Mersing town (where the hotel and shops are)...be prepared to camp out in the open..we usually rest under the stars.
remus also organises trips when the weather is better where you can stay at a "chalet" 1 km away from the site...but its been a while since remus organised one...

Yeah, my idea was to bring along a tent & setup camp at the site as well. I had searched for info on the Mersing site & its been mentioned that there were plans to build on that tract of land. Has anyone been back to the site recently & is able to let me know if the place is still vacant? Cheerios!

HI True Atlantean
Some members went there last weekend and its still virgin astronomy territory there...the buildup seems to be to run some utilities cables to the area...
BTW, if you want to take this discussion further, please start a new relevant thread, so as not to confuse with the current one. Thanks
