Meade ETX125 for less than US$700.

Check out the astronomics website for this amazing order. They don't do overseas sales though, so vPostUSA and the like will be the only option.

Wow! That's even cheaper than a refurbished ETX-125PE available at OPT for USD 799!

This is the original ETX, so should be old stock.
It does not benefit from the simpler alignment of the PE series.
Also, if you include shipping and 7% GST, the price can freewheel quite badly.
Another option is to buy a budget air ticket, fly there and bring it back manually....?

Yes, I was calculating the VPOST shipping cost and it came up to min. of S$239! Given the large size of the tripod boxes and the fact that it usually ships in 2 boxes, I think the shipping costs could easily double.

No leh... the Astronomics site says it is PE.

Hi,
This is the original ETX, so should be old stock.
But the description said:
"We bought Meade’s entire inventory of ETX-125PE Premier Edition Astro-Tube 5" Maksutov-Cassegrain go-to telescopes and got them at a very special price that lets us sell them for less than dealer cost! You save over $300 while quantities last. First shipments at this special price will begin about 2/25."
Also, it cheaper than the ETX-90PE! The ETX price had really drop so much...

Anyway, did Meade make too many of them or that they just can't sell... Hmm... may be they just can't sell as they are so many 4" APO refractor out there now selling at that price range... Hmm... People may prefer to just get a 4" APO refractor and an Alt-Az mount for that amount of money.... especially Alt-Az GOTO mount for small scope are quite cheap now.

Have a nice day.

Its the latest version with an improved red-dot finder. (if u read cloudynights, apparently astronomics bought 500 units and has already sold 100 at this price within a few days).

vPost is expensive but there is another similar (and cheaper) service by a Sg company whose name eludes me now. Or try http://www.myus.com/

oh..I based on the title. Did not go to astronomics to check it out.
If its the ETX125PE, that IS a good price by itself but let's all confirm the final cost including taxes and shipping before you place your order. Don't forget your GST! . :(
