Just a reminder, saturn will be at opposition next sunday. Drag out ur biggest and sharpest scope and have fun with the ringed planet.

Saturn Opposition 2008 24/02/08
Just came back from an obbing session. Skies weren't great, but luckily saturn was quite high up and not too affected by the thin layer of clouds. Finally took out the portaball 8" and took a look at saturn in it's full glory. 4 of us were present, Jin Peng, Joel, Ms Teo and me.
The cassini divison was very obvious. Could see the bands on the ringed planet. During those fleeting moments, i tot i could make out abit of the encke division, but not sure if it's just my imagination. Lots of moons spotted, didn't have a proper chart to figure out which is which.
Seems like after playing with the 4" for a while, looking thru the P8 is a totally different thing altogether. Image scale is way larger and the planet is way brighter. Lots more details could be seen.
