Opinions on the Celestron CG5 Mount

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

u need the vixen half pier to make it work. or u can reverse the north peg. yes, the legs are super heavy. but it's a gd thing. the head is much heavier than the usual gp head, ard the same as the gp-dx head. goto is somehow decent, tracking wise, i dun have much experience with it.

The head should be around 6-7kg. The legs are at least 6kg. The counterweight is 5.5kg, the vixen half pier is 2.2kg. So thats around 20kg without scope and accessories. The software can get cranky at times, especially when batt is low and they do not tell you the batt is low! Somehow I like Sirius mount and Synscan controller more.

If you want GOTO, you have other options which are lighter. If you want to pursue astrophotography, this mount is not really precise enough. What is your intention on getting the mount?
