60 Earth Hour Star Party - 29th March 2008 (open to public)

Hi astronomers,

Details as follows:

Location: Open field between Car Park C4 and D1
Time: 7PM onwards (overnight*)
Date: 29th March 2008 (Saturday)

Note:
PLEASE CALL AND CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDANCE BEFORE COMING so that we will look out for you.
For those who are bringing your telescopes, PLEASE PM me and I will send you an invitation letter. Please note that refreshments and chairs are provided.

Useful Information:
This site is located between Car Park C4 and D1 of East Coast Park. In between these two carpark locations is an overhead bridge connecting to the opposite inland side of the expressway near Victoria Junior College and Katong Convent School. There is also a bus stop opposite each of the carparks with Bus Service 401. This bus service heading towards the west direction arrives with the following times on Saturday:
1742, 1808, 1835, 1857, 1919, 1939, 1959, 2017, 2037, 2057, 2114, 2134, 2154, 2214hrs (times are approximate). Basically the last bus leaves at 2214hrs. Those coming by car can park at either C4 or D1, head towards the shoreline, and you will be able to see the site. Additionally, the inland direction from the perspective of the site will meet a big canal. Those coming by public transport can also take buses that arrive at VJC. Moreover, do note that there are two restrooms nearby and several pavillions for shelter just in case of sudden bad weather.

PLEASE NOTE THE ABOVE EVENT IS STRICTLY WEATHER DEPENDENT. THE EVENT WILL BE HELD AT MARINE PARADE COMMUNITY BUILDING IF IT RAINS OR SHOWS SIGN OF ABSOLUTELY NO CLEARING.

Please call and confirm the event prior to coming.

*The exhibition will end at 10pm, telescope viewing will not be affected.

7:00pm – ......Telescope viewing** and poster exhibition @ East Coast Park Area D1 (the field beside Siglap canal)

In event of rain, all activities will be held at Marine Parade CC and will end at 10pm. (similar to Feb star gazing session @ mpcc)

*All registration will be held at Marine Parade CC. For volunteers who are bringing telescopes, you may report directly to East Coast Park Area D1 to register.

**The telescope viewing will last overnight at ECP until the following morning.

2. Shuttle Service between Marine Parade CC and East Coast Park Area D1 Observation Site:

3. This event is open to all. The registration fee is for coverage on the cost for shuttle service, refreshments and poster printing for exhibition. Volunteers who are bringing their telescopes do not need to pay registration fee.

4. Contingency Plan – In case of rain, all telescopes will be displayed at Marine Parade CC.

5. Please call Jin Peng or Anne(contacts refer to the 1st post) before coming so we can look out for you at ECP.
