CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

First Light Jupiter

Post by rcj »

Hi,

Trying to get hands soaked into jovian imaging lately. This is my first tri-color jupiter taken at F12.4 native with the CN212 (seeing was below average, no barlow was used), via the DMK21. Stacks of 1000 frames per channel. It was quite a handful at first to maneuver the manual wheel turning without inducing too much vibrations, and all to be done (three channels) within 90 seconds, before the disk of the planet rotate enough to cause smearing. Taken on the night of 27th at around 2:23AM.
