Wow, the second CSN activation for the year was met with a warm response! Well over 10 members turn up despite it being a working day the next day.
The session started at about 10pm following a CSN mobilisation at about 9pm. The sky was clear of storm clouds but there seems to be a thin layer of high level clouds. Nonetheless, by the time the session ended at about 1.30am, we had observed the following DSOs:
M36/37/38 faint, delicate but impressive open clusters nonetheless
M41
M42 hot favourite as usual.
M45 the seven sisters aka 'Subaru' in Japanese
M104 Sombrero galaxy
Jewel Box
Eta Carinae nebula
NGC3532
IC2931
Omega Centauri
In addition to Jupiter and Lord of the Rings (as Richard likes to call it) Saturn of course

Equipment:
Meade LX90
Meade ETX90RA
Meade ETX105EC
Celestron 8" SCT OTA on video tripod
Mag1 Instruments 8" Portaball
Skywatcher 127mm Maksutov
Hoping for more clear skies!

cheers
