Jupiter 23 June

Post by cataclysm »

Hi all,
Experienced better than average seeing on the morning of 23 June, and this is the best RGB run from the lot.

Very nice!

Can see lots of detail, e.g. within the GRS and SEB. Great image!

I think Jupiter looks more featured this year than previously.

Its Opposition is coming soon... 9 July 2008!

Is this a monochrome camera?
Which set of filters did you use?

Thanks

Hi JY, the DMK21AF04 is a monochrome camera. The chip size and resolution is the same as the popular Philips webcam, but that's where the similarity end. This camera has way higher sensitivity, enable the ability to capture images at higher frame rates. Noise signature is low also.

As for the filters, they are from Astronomik. These are parfocal filters, very useful for imaging Jupiter when used with the filter wheel, as imaging Jupiter in tri-colour can be a frantic affair.
