Hi all,
After some sleepless nights, with the recent good weather, here is what the sky bestowed on the night of 31st. This is an animation of Jupiter taken during a span of an hour. Note the variance in seeing effects in translation to the amount of surface details seen. There was a particular frame in this animation sequence where the seeing went momentarily bad, and then "recovered" again. The entire sequence was taken when the transparency was consistently clear. Not much haze. And as the night progressed, the frequency of low passing cumulus came to almost zero by the time the sequence was captured. Although the seeing was never as good as the experience in Punggai, what more with the air-con compressor directly above the telescope, think it is about as good as it is possible with an 8incher!

Jupiter 310708 Animation and more
Nice, impressive work. I did went out to take a look at Jupiter through my binoculars earlier on. But being a newbie, I wasn't able to identify any other stars although I did see tons of them and I think I saw Vegas, Altair and Deneb too. A lot of other stars I couldn't identify, gotta wait for another ob session to learn more from the pros, haha.
