CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Jupiter 200808UT

Post by rcj »

Hi all,

Just finished processing a new batch of Jupiters from the night of 20th August 2008. Seeing was so-so, but the GRS was visible then. This series of animation was taken about an hour after the GRS transit, when seeing improved a little (but still far from excellent). Notice that the North Equatorial Belt has darkened a little these few days and there is a white plume projection from this NEB towards the Equatorial Zone. The area immediately surrounding the GRS has also turned a darker grey tone and with the GRS as usual in the last few years turning more towards a lighter shade of yellowish-orange, compared to a few decades back (dark orange to reddish).

I can actually see slight cloud movements in the animation! How many frames are in this animation?
