Usability of the TP obs site

Post by fizzy123 »

I was walking pass the tampines swimming pool and was shocked to realise the extent of light pollution at the usual field near the mosque used by WX's saturday obs. Considering that the gym and the pool now close at a later timing, the area was very bright. Some of the light were contributed by the new AIA building. This was a far cry from what I remembered back in 2005 when the pool was still rennovating. Does sport council close the all the lights when not in operation? I notice commander WX has been quite silent for some time already, so hi WX, are you still having your usual session there? Or have you abandon the site for a new site? I was hoping to get back into some serious observation and wish to join your sessions.

Lol, he usually does, but as he said he changed it to Sunday nights and the weather during recent Sunday Nights, aren't good. On the previous sessions he held on Saturdays, the observation starts around 9+ to 10 when the swimming pool lights are off, the only pollution are from the construction site (quite an extensive light pollution) and the spotlights from the Mosque.

We could still see some DSOs, but the viewing has significantly deteriorated compared to last year. The covering of the sides of the eyes becomes more beneficial now.
