Shooting over 30sec pics using DSLR

Post by boothee »

I've been shooting DSOs through my 10" telescope using Canon 300D DSLR.

I found that there is only 30 seconds exposure is maximum. If you want to take longer than that, you have to use bulb mode.

If I use remote control, it would not be able to get exact exposures?

I would like to ask you what would be the best, cheap and easy way to shoot 30secons+ exposures? How do you capture? 300D can shoot through computer?

Thanks for your help and looking forward to your reply.

Clear Skies!

Hi Boothee,

Take a look at this:

I am referring to the Phottix Timer Remote TR-90 for SGD70.

Hi,

To do it through the computer, you use these:

Freeware:
http://www.stark-labs.com/DSLR_Shutter.html

Bulb control: (DSUSB + the suitable cable)

Hope it helps,

Hi,
Use IRIS ( http://www.astrosurf.org/buil/us/iris/iris.htm ) lor.

It's a very powerful and not difficult to use. IRIS support remote control for your Canon DSLR and the serial interface is not difficult to DIY ( http://www.astrosurf.org/buil/iris/new540/new540_us.htm ).

Have a nice day.
