NGC104 (47 Tuc) from Australia

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

NGC104 (47 Tuc) from Australia

Post by rcj »

Hi all!

Just came back from the Snake Valley Camp Star Party. Physically drained, but it was an amazing experience. But i think i was cursed, bringing the tropical weather to the dark site, with clouds clouds and more clouds, and rain. Stayed for three nights, during the periods of good clearance, it was jaw-dropping, both in seeing the complete milky way traversing horizontally from left to right, and the two Mag. Clouds were huge! Ethos and big dobs were the name of the game, and the FOVs plus gazillion stars were eye-popping. Temperatures were close to freezing at some moments, body shivers, but the camera must have been damn happy, working with minimal noise. Here is my very first CCD attempt from australia from a dark site (pardon the burnt out core for now!)
Taken with the Vixen 3-inch refractor... L30, R15, G15, B15 exposure configuration.

Star-studded!

Impressive! This can really rival the great Omega Centauri cluster, a pity we can't see it in Singapore.
