It is especially good for DSLRs hardcores.

Well, for DSLRs users, they can take pictures without the laptop, but they can't guide without the laptop unless they use ST4 or STV.
And this product allows stand-alone autoguiding which seems to be cheaper and easier to use than ST4 and STV.

Re: Stand alone Autoguider
an alternative which I am using (actually learning how to use) is TVGuider which is reviewed hereMeng Lee wrote:Hi all,

I bought it with the Watec B&W camera. No need for laptop too. So far I have tried at 90sec with the HEQ5 Pro. The skies are not so good in KL.
The HEQ5 Pro is good unguided up to 60sec
BTW I am new to astrophotography.
cheers
Hehe Mr Mooey, I think a small chip is acceptable, what is more important is the S/N of the guidestar to ensure accuracy of the guiding.MooEy wrote:looks like the chip is puny, and no t-thread!! cannot qwik guide.
Oh, if you want to qwik guide, maybe we can get the 50mm RACI finders and remove the prism and have a lot of back focus and make an adapter with a 1.25" back.

Re: Stand alone Autoguider
I think as long as TVGuider can get dim enough stars and can perform subpixel guiding then it is a good choice also!mymoon wrote:an alternative which I am using (actually learning how to use) is TVGuider which is reviewed hereMeng Lee wrote:Hi all,
