Some Terrestrial Shots with Baby Q

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Some Terrestrial Shots with Baby Q

Post by cataclysm »

Bad weather. . . . .more bad weather, so instead of letting my scopes 'wasting' away in the dry cabinets, i took the Baby 'Q' on a few photo outings as a tele lens, just to see how does it stack up against typical dedicated camera telephoto lenses.
I have to say I am quite please its performance.......
Here are some photos:

Sunset from my window, the clouds parted at the right moment for this interesting composition. The foregroung building is the newly completed 'Fusionopolis'. Shot at prime focus, 1/1000s, ISO 250

Ducks from Botanical Garden. Prime focus, 1/160s, ISO 640
Image

Shot this Golden Web spider on a palm tree across a pond. Prime focus, 1/200s, ISO 800
Image

Again taken at Botanical Garden, these common garden variety sparrows are quite comfortable at the presence of human. I can really get very close in shots. Prime focus, 1/80s, ISO 800.

Migratory Sandpiper at Sungei Buloh ( I am no bird expert, id it from a bird reference book). This bird was at the far bank of the mangrove swamp, had to double the effective fl with 2xPowermate for a satisfactory image scale. 1/125s, ISO 800.

Those are some kickass photos you've got there! I love the spider one, as well as the sparrow. The sunset one is pretty decent, but I still prefer wideview ones with grass or tons of building in the background, haha. The clouds were pretty nice though. (:

holy!! thats one wooping sharp and expensive telephoto lens! LOL cool... it actually provide a very nice background blur effect at its F ratio. haha love the shallow depth of field
