Orion Constellation

Post by weixing »

Hi,
Orion Constellation
Image
Shooting Info
Camera: Canon 450D + EFS 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS @ 30mm
Exposure: 25 x 180s Unguided @ ISO 200 F6.3

Initially, plan to shoot M45 (Pleiades or Seven Sisters) open star clusters again using my EFS 55-250mm IS lens, but some problem with the polar alignment, zoom creep, focus creep and getting too late (need to work next day), so in the end decided to shoot the Orion Constellation.

No flat frames applied as it created a lots of strange artifact... not sure why?? [smilie=confused.gif]

Anyway, result was better than I expected. :D

Hope more clear nights ahead.

Have a nice day.

It'll be easily better if taken from a dark sky.... too bad we don't have that in Singapore. Below is one of the original image:

I calibrated the RAW images in IRIS... got dark frame subtraction.... just skip the flat field correction. Export to Photoshop for final touch up... didn't push the processing too much as it's don't look nice.

Have a nice day.

Last night was clear, but it was a weekday night leh... [smilie=crying.gif]

And as per usual, thunderstorm now after a clear night... sian.. [smilie=crying3.gif]

Anyway, I recently reprocess the above image trying to get rid of the red band cause by the light pollution and high cloud. The result is cleaner background, but the stars look dimmer now.

Have a nice day.
