Hmm, one thing though.. can a cooled DSLR be used for normal photography or only astrophotography? And if it can be used for normal photography, will the performance increase or decrease?

Wow I wonder how intense the power consumption becomes..Peltiers are really not at that efficient.

Even the "high efficiency" ones.

This mod should not affect regular photography at all, unless it involves extreme exposure lengths, in which case you will improve the CCD response (less hot pixels / noise).

Just leave it off when you're doing regular photography.

Oh well since the filter has been changed, daytime photography is never as good as before even with custom white balance.

Ah ok I didn't notice that part thought it was just peltier addition.

If I was going to remove filters though, I'd just go with a purpose built CCD instead of hacking up a camera.. additional cost and mounting weight for no good reason [smilie=bleeding.gif]

(I guess you wouldn't need a laptop then, but it would probably be cheaper to buy a laptop than a mount that would track better with a DSLR on the back)

Hmm... for that price, I think can buy a decent CCD camera...

I did my 450d modification with peltier cooling for less than 80 USD.
