Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
mm...the new celestron and orion's APO has the same specs.
looks like both are sourcing this baby from the same china factory and the chinese are having brisk business.
the only differentiation is quality control...will they filter out the bad ones from the good ones before selling it or will demand force them to marginalise their quality?
just when Orion thought they can make a few extra bucks pushing the price up to $499, Celestron is now here with $430!

Both OTAs seem to have the same specs, but the Celestron 80 ED uses a rack & pinion instead of a Crayford focuser. Also, the Celestron model is more 'complete' as it comes with a 6x30 erect-image finder, 45 deg 1.25" erect-image diagonal and 25mm plossl eyepiece (which the Orion APO does not provide), though the 45 deg diagonal is not so convenient for astronomy users. But at $429.95, and assuming that the optical quality is equivalent, then this is definitely of better value than the Orion APO for beginners.
