Polar alignment for vixen and skywatcer mount.

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Polar alignment for vixen and skywatcer mount.

Post by michael »

Hi,

There is no polar star for us, bad luck. We all need to do polar alignment through star drifting method. I need to understand polar alignment for GP and Sphinx mount. As I seen sphinx azimuth adjustment is not easy at all and there is no slow motion knob to adjusting azimuth while you are on star drifting. its not convenient for adjusting the azimuth. How about the GP, EQ-G, HEQ5 mount, does its comes with slow motion knobs for the azimuth adjustment?

Thank you
Michael

problem solved. thanks for help.

Err... slow motion control for azimuth?? The azimuth control is just two screws against the north peg... you loosen one and tighten the other one to adjust the azimuth... it's slow enough.

If it's your first time using an EQ mount, I suggest you go and download an EQ mount manual to read... most EQ mount work in similar ways. This way, you'll had a better understanding of how to use an EQ mount.

Good luck and have a nice day.

ermm..go and see a real sample and ask someone to show u..i do my routine polar alignment in under 1 min..and there's no need to unscrew the mount base..just lift and turn the mount manually, and fine adjust with the 2 little knobs..and it gives me enough accuracy to track jupiter for 3 hours with a 4.5mm EP, keeping the planet in the FOV.

All EQ mounts works in the similar way, regardless of their makes or brands, like what Weixing had mentioned.
