My first stargazing session

Rather frustrated with work recently so i decided to do something that i enjoyed doing mny year back when i was a teenager.

Got to know that there will be a public stargazing on 13/6/09 satrday at ECP, i was excited about it. I went there bit late and i can't see or seem to find any one doing star obs or looking at the sky. no gadget/scope. I think I'm at the right location but probably i missed the event. Too late after work when i got there(almost 11pm) bit disappointed.....

I said to myself why not do my own stargazing. So i decided to camp out at pasir ris park. i only have an old china make 6x42 bino with me.
The sky actually quite clear. light pollution was there but not too bad. i could see my favorite constellation the scorpio high up in the sky. half crescent moon was there and a bright star. wah i think it was the jupiter, next to the moon. i took out my bino. To my suprise! i could some moon crater and even the moon sea bed(i think).
later, before dawn . a real bright star on the east. a morning star it must be either venus or mercury.
(thanks to stellarium on my HP mini).

it wasn't that starry night i used to see but i'st quite meaningful night because i can map out the sky and identify many objects.
haha mybe i should start investing a good scope later. [smilie=confused.gif]

who said we can't see stars or planet in singapore?!!!!! [smilie=cheer.gif]

I was there til 10.30pm, but there were some who observed and stayed overnight. Perhaps you missed them in the dark....

Thanks for the encouragement.
Perhaps i should join the next coming obs event in Tiong Bahru park on 26th.
Hopefully i can find time with my busy schedule.
Really like to meet up with you guys..hehe all the Astro Sifu/master!
