I was tempted but it defeats the purpose of having a small 6" OTA with such a large frame that makes it harder to transport.
I suspect they planned to eventually introduce an 8" amd 10" model without the need to redesign the mount.
Looking at DIY upgrade to 8", I think it may be more difficult as the scope is so well integrated you may loose the auto align function.
Also, the price is the same as the Celestron N8SE. I'd rather have the more aperture than all those fancy features like ccd recording.

First light will probably be at the Telok Blangah Park. Let's see if the scope arrives first. I missed out on the first batch so hopefully I'm on the second batch!

[quote="acc"] Rich, you are not supposed to be interested in the ETX-LS you know...

I'm not. Not at that price point when I can get a Nexstar8SE and even more so since I already have the classic N8 presently. Aperture wins!
But I am so excited on the LS because its targeted at lazy people like me. (LS = Lazy Starhopping) hahaha. Imagine this guy auto-levels, and auto aligns using its CCD camera. Its even better than Wira's LX200 GPS.
if you want to do imaging, it has built in imaging, although I am not keen on this. it makes the system much more expensive but I guess the CCD is essential for autoalignment. Now you can forget about up and down rules in alignment to take care of backlash, etc.
I do suspect once this scope gains more acceptance and proves its usefullness, Meade will mount an 8" SCT on it since the mount appear to be designed for that size. That would, of course, mean cannibalising potential LX90 ACF sales.
Back to Andrew's scope, I may not want to buy a ferrari , but running my fingers on its body and being taken out for a spin is great too!![crying2 [smilie=crying2.gif]](./images/smilies/crying2.gif)
