The Great Orion Nebula and The Running Man Nebula

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

The Great Orion Nebula and The Running Man Nebula

Post by weixing »

Hi,
Just finished processing the below image I took this early morning after my observation session yesterday night. The sky was very clear and basically cloudless in Tampines for the whole night till early morning.

The collimation on my Vixen R200SS was not accurate (due to the play of the focuser... now consider to upgrade my focuser), the focusing was not spot on (no 100% live view and 1x view of image in my Canon DSLR) and the wind cause erratic star trails all over my frames, but the final result still look OK... good enough for me.

The Great Orion Nebula (M42/43) with The Running Man Nebula (NGC 1977)
Image
The Running Man Nebula (NGC 1977) are the nebula on the right.

Below are the settings:
Camera: Canon 450D Original
Telescope: Vixen R200SS (FL=800mm F4.0) with MPCC on Vixen GPD EQ mount
Images: 70 images x 1 minute exposure @ ISO200 (unguided)

Tonight weather also look good, but very tired now after yesterday imaging cold (24.4°C on my watch digital thermometer) and windy imaging session... so tonight will be my recovery night.

Have a nice day.
