Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Pentax XL 5.2mm...so huge!

Post by VinSnr »

Just when I thought that the Pentax XL 14mm and 21mm is huge for a 1.25" eyepiece, the Pentax XL 5.2mm is even bigger! How on earth can a 5mm eyepiece be so big?

Hi Vin,

Where have you been ? I see you've got your 2nd (or 3rd) XL ?

Yeah, I remember seeing the one Sam Chng had. It's really huge and totally dwarved the XL21 I had at that time when we put them side by side.

I think it's taller than even the XL7 I have now right ? The XL7 itself is already quite a bulk to carry around - it's about 13cm tall with the eyecup fully extended.

Can we see a pic of it sticking out of your diagonal ? (for 'best effect', on the 80 ED) :D

hey fren, contact u next time for the TV diagonal. I got an everbrite version coming in...need to make space....

The 5.2 mm is about 14cm tall with eyecup extended.

This must be the biggest 5mm eyepiece.

Hello Vin,

You are right - it is huge. It's one of my favorite eyepieces in my collection. I especially like it for globular clusters since you get a high magnification and a wide field in which to enjoy the cluster.

Enjoy using it!

Go well!
