DIY Camera Adapter for Canon A720IS?

Post by Gary »

I am trying to do some AP using my Canon Powershot A720IS.

Where to get this plastic tube and rubber adapter in Singapore?

Never used a powershot, but you gotta check where the PVC tubes can hook onto when on the camera. Better to be on the rim than the motorized lens shaft.
Such PVC adapters and fittings can be easily bought from well stocked Hardware stores! Gotta look for those that cater to contractors. Bring your cam down and maybe your diagonal as well for fitting. Sometimes a piece fits but with a gap. Either stick some rubber strips or drill, tap and get nylon screws to hold the cam...provided there is enough space to grip.
It's afocal so the EP is in there. A pipe with some foam can be slotted over the EP and diagonal shaft and resting in the diagonal itself, held with screws can be also done.
Another is some 'L' brackets, wood and make a mini holder. Trick is to ensure the camera lens is squared and in plane with the EP. not touching but lined up.
My wife never complained about how much time, effort & money I spent on my Astronomy hobby!................suddenly I met her!!!

if u dun mind spending a little, u can get the conversion lens adapter, step down ring and an eyepiece with a filter thread, i.e. baader hyperion.
