Drool Drool Drool!!! Faint....drool...faint! Awesome-ness and Sexy!! Gotta hand it to Fuji here with this one!! Innovation at it's best! Being a Fuji DSLR user since the S1, S2, S3, one can always trust the Fuji CCD, it's performance and system for images!
Yeah it would be interesting with regards to interchangeable lenses! They stopped the DSLR market and took a different approach! Then again why not! They even have great compacts that produce great images! I'm not pro Fuji but after using it for some time, come to trust it's output and consistency! My S3 is coming close to 8yrs and still going strong even though resolved to Astro Imaging and long heated exposures! It's been in salty air, wet, sweated upon and still consistent nice colored bright images! Even the small compact I have is easy to get used to for exposures!

But this innovation is a wonderful piece! Great hybrid of Retro and future!

Aside from this...close to doing a DIY on my S3 for Astro imaging! Close to getting a 2nd hand DSLR soon...so may retire my cash cow and trusted partner to Astro Imaging with removal of the IR. Kinda like a Bypass...anything after this is sure death,...haha!
My wife never complained about how much time, effort & money I spent on my Astronomy hobby!................suddenly I met her!!!

Yah He did. We had a chit chat on it too!

Frankly, not to concerned about my S3 going bust! It served me well and is well paid off for during my time with it for commercial work. It was a trusty companion and really reliable.
The mod for the S3 is pretty easy as there are no soldering or prying open of something. It's all screws and lift..lol! Being a handyman and DIY freak...I can take the risk/s!
Besides, been wanting to get a replacement for it as it has come off age. I already sold my S2. I only shoot with prime lenses and my work horses are my Nikor 105mm(f2.8) and 50mm(f1.8), both outdoor and studio. I have not done anything commercial for 4yrs and now only as a hobby with some models I still work with. So no real loss to me during all this time.

Now with the x100!! I have something to look forward to!! Based on my current lifestyle and shooting style, the prime APS suits my style perfectly. And it can double during my model shoots when needed. I don't really need a DSLR...especially with digital and the type of cameras available.
Showed the wife and she gives me the 'Humph!!..not again!!"
So if my S3 goes to heaven, I have my Fuji compacts to tide me over till this x100 release!! Or maybe just pick up a cheap 2nd hand entry level nikon for snapshots, cos I will miss using my primes!

Thanks for the heads up Orly! And to Stuart for the news on the x100!! So Stuart....gonna get a Fuji finally???....Muahahahaha!

That Fuji is so handsome.. and retro! I was drooling over the lever self-timer on the front. It looks just like my Kiev rangefinder...! and the pancake is small and fast (f/2), better than the Sony 16mm f/2.8 pancake which is larger and slower (but wider). 23mm isn't wide.

It is on the expensive side though at $1000 USD plus. And only time will tell how good the AF is. I think the OVF is a Galilean finder, definitely not TTL, so I wonder how useful it will be (if it's a Leica-class VF, then it'd be great).

The OVF looks great!! like all great rangefinders, the FOV is larger than the capture area.. and it has an electronic level and distance scale!
