ETX Focusing

Post by fizzy123 »

Recently I met some problems regarding focusing using the knob of the ETX. The image just cannot be focused to a clear distinct image. Iz the eyepieces I used are not parfocal.

Hi,
This does not concern with parfocal. I think may be your refractor focuser do not have enough in travel or out travel to focus on that eyepiece. You can't do anything about in travel, unless you change your focuser. If out-travel is the problem, You can try to add an extension tube to increase the distance.

Have a nice day.

Hi Fizzy
A possible cause might be excessive magnification. What focal length eyepiece are u using?

cheers

I am only using 38x. The ETX focuser seems to be able to turn forever, in a particular direction. I heard the ETX60 work by shifting the objective len to focus iz. :?

Hi,
Does the problem happen to one eyepiece only or all eyepieces have this problem? What focal length you use.. 9mm??

Have a nice day.

The problem is prevalent at higher magnification eg. 58x .I have read from the net that the problem is veri common for other ETX users.
