Looking to keep refractor in a padded bag instead of the card box you saw in my boot.
Type 1: Looks like those bags for the Televue. Padded with should strap for ease of transport.
Type 2 : Looks like a Golf bag...instead of putting clubs, put your refractor in!
Type 3 : Orion padded bag.
Anyone know where to start looking?
thanks

I did not get to see your refractor in the boot. What are the dimensions of the refractor (length and max diameter)?

It's the Orion 80mm EDkayheem wrote: Hi Rich,

Rich, I got a friend who has the Stellarvue C5 softcase, should fit the Orion 80mm ED perfectly. Don't think he is using it, let me ask him if he wanna sell it or not.

Other than the SV C5 soft case, you can consider:VinSnr wrote:It's the Orion 80mm EDkayheem wrote: Hi Rich,

1. Squash racket bag with additional padding.
2. For a hard case, consider using a 6" diameter PVC pipe with the pipe ends and use camping mat foam for padding. Beach Rd sells ready-made foam padding for padding the SAF webbing/SBO....ouch!

Yes...I did consider a squash racquet bag but that would fit the ST80, not the 600mm long ED80...mm, the PCV solution would be an alternative although it would not be very elegant....

Hi Vince,
I've just checked through the specs and seems the C5 is a little too big and too short for my needs. The refractor is rated 23.5 " but the C5 is only 22 inches long overall. I don't mind having a look at your friend's C5 case when I next meet you but looking at it, I think the C2 would be best. If it has shoulder strap, even better.
Scopetronix also seem to sell some padded tripod bags which may fit but there are no dimensions stated, so may need to check with Samual on this.
BTW, does anyone know if those document holders will also do?
Is there one large enough? Then maybe line it with some foam padding ..?

rich, if you remove the dewshield, the scope will fit inside the C5 perfectly.Airconvent wrote:http://www.stellarvue.com/cases.htmlVinSnr wrote: It's the Orion 80mm ED

Normally what they do is to cut a slot inside the C5 case so that they can put the dewshield inside the case too.
Re: Where to get padded bag for a Refractor
Try taking a walk around Beach Rd. They have a lot of bags and cases. The racket cases I have in mind is not just for rackets. Some of them are very roomy and are meant to fit other stuff like change of clothes, balls, shoes etc. The one my son is using for his badminton is pretty big. It is about 700mm long.Airconvent wrote:

They have smaller and larger versions of it in the shops.
