Check out these items: Supposedly cheap versions of Eneloops.

They're supposedly rechargable in standard NiMH rechargable chargers. And MUCH cheaper than using 8xD cell batteries for those grab and go goto mounts :)
I haven't used them but the reviews seem to be quite positive and these are folks who extract every last ounce of performance from their batteries since it determines flight time and speed for them :)
