To all etx gurus, can a normal flexifocus be used to attach to the ETX60? Where can I find one? 8)

Re: ETX flexifocus
The ETX60 is no longer in production but the ETX70 is similar.fizzy123 wrote:To all etx gurus, can a normal flexifocus be used to attach to the ETX60? Where can I find one? 8)
I can see what looks like a focus knob similar to the Mak series but as a refractor, this would be odd. I would assume there is some sort of rack and pinion system instead. Nonetheless, if the focus is through that knob, then you should be able to either make one (check out www.weasner.com) or buy one from ebay for as low as US$8 excluding shipping. Incidently, the refractor is short fl and meant for wide views, so your magnifications would be low.
I don't see any real benefit of having a flexible focus since the main reason for having it is lesser scope shake at high mags...

If it does not fit fizzy123's scope, please PM me. I'm interested in getting one.
Thanks!

As above! ok. zenith watching is a good reason to want to buy a flexible cable. The ETX forkmount does have some serious shortcomings that I had hoped they would address in future versions. For one, I felt the OTA is too big and heavy for the aperture and the forkmount should be a tad longer, so that there is sufficient clearance for focussing at zenith.
Also, the focusser should be made like their SCTs or even Celestron Nexstar4 instead of being so small....
